The Power to Change

Landscape architects can make a difference and change the world for the better.

Many of today’s most complex policy issues like fighting climate change, building healthy environments and creating sustainable communities are being tackled by landscape architects.  

Landscape architecture is a profession that demands that its practitioners become agents of  change. Merrick Denton Thompson, who is a landscape architect, says that landscape architecture “stands at that interface between people and place. It’s about making certain that people live their lives in a sustainable way. Making the very best use of natural resources. And our profession, the landscape profession, is the profession that will be leading that debate………..The way we choose to manage our land, the way we choose to develop and settle on our land, now and in the future, will be determined by the landscape profession. So these are very very exciting times for anybody coming into the landscape profession.”
