Housing

The government has a commitment to build three million new homes by 2020.  Good quality housing should be available to all. This includes not just the quality of the buildings themselves, but the places where they are located and the services that are provided.  Landscape architects work with housing both private and public on a variety of different scales from private gardens to major urban regeneration schemes, from social housing to executive homes.

Ashley Dunseath, technical director at Waterman CPM, identifies the issues, “social deprivation, health problems, high unemployment, very bad housing, bad facilities,” as the driving factors for urban regeneration, and of his work in housing that, “You're giving something back to society, you're creating a community where you're repairing the damage.”
