Landscape architects are tackling climate change. Climate change affects water systems, weather and temperatures as well as animal and plant species. Dealing with these issues locally can have a great influence on the larger effects of climate change as well.
Climate change will have profound impacts on every area of our society, environmentally, socially and economically. In order to solve the problems it creates, we need people who can see the big picture – and landscape architects are just such people.
Boscastle in Cornwall was nearly destroyed by flooding in 2004, possibly linked to climate change, and landscape architects have worked to solve its problems and protect it in the future.
