Laurel Truscott

Laurel Truscott is a landscape architect, who works for LDA Design.

She studied Landscape Architecture at Leeds Metropolitan University before completing a Diploma in Landscape Planning and Design at the University of Sheffield in 2005.

Laurel, whose parents were both landscape architects, describes her career high as landscaping the grounds of a former seminary overlooking Manly beach in Sydney – and swimming in the sea after project meetings.

She is currently working on a variety of projects, including garden courtyard design, design of parks and city-scale masterplanning.

Laurel says: “I’m really loving working on the parks projects at the moment. The main project is Victoria Park in East London. My role is everything from design to administration, to client meetings, to working with the architects and engineers. We’re doing a lot of work in urban areas and it’s about people and communities and having a positive effect on where people live and how they live and how they feel.

“I love drawing and I love sketching and I think it’s really important to put your ideas down on paper. The most fantastic thing about landscape architecture is that it’s so varied and there’s so many different avenues you can go down. It’s a job you can do anywhere in the world.”
