Diana Lamb

Diana Lamb is a director of David Huskisson Associates, a practice based in Tunbridge Wells.

After initially studying nursing, Diana also worked in social work, insurance, farming and publishing before studying landscape architecture at Gloucestershire College of Art and Design.

She joined David Huskisson Associates 17 years ago and has been a director of the practice for the past decade.

Her practice has worked on environmental assessment schemes, planning appraisals, motorway services areas and housing schemes.

She says: “What’s going on with the world and the environment at the moment is making people think much more closely about landscape. It’s about understanding the contours of the land and the people that live there, and the animals and the birds that live there, and it’s bringing all that together.

“One of the wonderful things about the landscape with plants, is that it works in the 5th dimension and it changes over time. And it can cover, to a greater or lesser degree, almost every element in the environment.

”If you’re interested in your environment and you want to be in a position to influence it, to make it better, to improve it, to create, to respond to all the challenges that are coming up now – and we have some real challenges coming up now – then landscape’s the ideal career for you. It’s a career for passion and to enjoy.”

"It's about understanding the contours of the land and what goes on in the land and the people who live there as well as the animals and the birds. It's bringing all that together"
