Adam White is Principal Landscape Architect at Groundwork London, one of fifty environmental trusts based across the UK.
Adam was born in Warrington, Cheshire and studied at the Cheshire College of Agriculture and Manchester Metropolitan University.
He is currently working on the Playscape project, which aims to design playful landscapes for children using boulders and natural materials.
“There’s a great opportunity as a landscape architect to address what’s on the political agenda – childhood obesity, healthy living. Designing playful landscapes means we’re providing somewhere that it’s fun for children to play,” he says.
“I was probably interested in landscape architecture before I even knew there was a profession. As a child growing up I used to love growing cress and mustard in my bedroom at six or seven years old.
”The great thing about it is when a scheme’s completed and you see people using that space, be it a town centre square, a country park or a cycle route and you’ve had a key role in providing a facility that people are using in their leisure time.”
